A BIT ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in North Vancouver and continue to live here with my partner, two children, and dog. You can find me being active outdoors: snowboarding, gardening, at the beach, or in the mountains. 

I've been a social worker for 16+ years, and have a passion for child, youth, and family development. 13+ years of my career have been in a counselling role. This has included therapeutic work with children, youth, and parents (both voluntary and mandated individuals). I've worked within mental health and addiction inpatient programs as well as community service programs. This variety of past counselling roles has provided me with extensive knowledge of mental health, addictions, ADHD, FASD, trauma, parenting, and family dynamics. 

My approach is relational, strength-based, client-centred, and compassionate. I try to understand people within the context of biology, trauma, and family systems. I aim to help you connect with yourself and others in a way that makes you feel more content and confident in life.

I have a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Social Work from UBC. I'm registered with the BC College of Social Workers, and a member of both the BC and Canadian Association of Social Workers. I am also an approved mental health provider through the First Nations Health Authority.

Youth Counselling

I'm happy to provide counselling to youth aged 13+. I have been working with youth for over 17 years. This age group is a passion of mine. I can provide a space to feel safe to be who you are or hope to be. I use a harm reduction approach with addictions, which means individualized recommendations given people’s unique needs. I approach everything with openness and non-judgement. 

Parent Counselling

Parenting is one of the toughest jobs in the world. I can help you connect with your children in ways that make sense given their developmental age. If you are a new parent, I can support you through this major transition. I believe all parents do the absolute best they can with the knowledge and skills they have access to. I'm also well versed in the unique needs of neurodivergent individuals (ADHD/FASD/Autism).

Adult Counselling

As an adult, life becomes complicated in different ways than before. I aim to meet you where you're at, and work with you on your personal goals. This might include things such as learning more about yourself, managing stress/anxiety/depression/boundaries/addiction/communication issues etc.

Parent-Youth Counselling

I offer family sessions to youth and their parents. Things we can address are mediating family rules and expectations, strengthening relationship, communication issues etc.

FEES

Counselling by a Registered Social Worker in BC (RSW #10596) is covered by many extended health plans, please check with your provider. Fees are GST exempt and can also be a deductible expense through Canada Revenue Services.

As an approved mental health provider through the First Nations Health Authority, I can direct bill through this program for those that qualify. For more information about this program please click here :
